A Brief History of Coventry Copsewood
The club was formed in 1922 by workers at Peel Connor who had moved down to Coventry from 'up north'. The 'Connor' played in the Coventry District League until 1926 when they changed their name to Magnet FC. They then joined the Coventry & North Warwickshire League. In 1934 the club again changed its name, this time to GEC (Coventry) FC.
The first season after the war the club set the still to be broken record attendance for a Coventry Evening Telegraph Cup match, 4,500 seeing them beat A.W.A.
In more recent times the club joined the Midland Combination in 1993. In 1997 the club gained promotion to the Premier Division. At the start of the 1998/99 season the changed its name once again becoming Marconi and they had to play their home games at VS Rugby's ground as they had no floodlights, however they purchased some from Mangotsfield Town and erected them with the hard work and skill of club members. The first game under their new lights was in March 1999. In 2000/01 the club entered the FA Vase for the first time.
Last season the club won the Endsleigh Challenge Cup.
