Last Result: Saturday 12th April 2008 Cottesmore Amateurs 3 Earl Shilton Albion 4 Leicestershire Senior League - Division One
Current League Position: 5th
Ground Address: Stoneycroft Park, New Street, Earl Shilton, Leicestershire
Earl Shilton Albion's ground, Stoneycroft Park, has probably seen better days but it does have that wonderful feel of a 'proper' non-league ground. The stand on the right hand side as you enter the ground has half the roof missing and the brickwork is crumbling but it all adds to the character of the place.
At the far end of the ground there is a large building with the windows boarded up which seems to be used just for ground maintenance equipment these days. The changing rooms are found at the other end of the ground.
Earl Shilton Albion are currently playing in the Leicestershire Senior League - Division One and only lost twice in their first 15 games of the 2007/08 campaign. Form has dropped off since Christmas but Albion are still nicely placed for a late push.
Silverware has been in short supply over the years, however the 1968/69 season saw them crowned championed of the Leicestershire Senior League - Division Two, a feat they repeated in the 1979/80 season. The 1988/89 campaign was one of the most successful in Earl Shilton Albion's history seeing them win the Division One Championship.
The picture above left shows the stand at Stoneycroft Park, with the near
derelict building in the background. The perimeter brick walls which separates the ground from the back gardens of the adjacent terraced houses are now crumbling, lets hope the health & safety people don't call them a visit! The picture left shows the dugouts at Stoneycroft.
Although a very average final placing has been the order of the day lately, Earl Shilton Albion have finished 4th in Division One in both the 2003/04 & the 2004/05 seasons.
Pictured right is a view of the ground from the far end.
Another view of the ground from the bottom end showing the stand and changing rooms, also shows the club secretary painting the lines on the pitch at 8.30am on a Saturday morning!
This picture shows the stand with the terraced houses which enclose the ground in the background, a truly lovely ground to vist for the non league ground hopper.
