Lye Town's ground in Stourbridge Road could certainly do with a lick of paint and a bit of modernisation but it definitely has a bit of character. Lye Town share the ground with Lye Cricket Club who allowed them to move in in the early 1930s shortly after their formation.
Lye Town joined the Worcestershire Combination in 1931 and remained there until the outbreak of the Second World War, becoming league champions in 1935/36 and winning the Birmingham Junior Cup on three occasions.
When football started again after the war Lye joined the Central Amateur League for one season before joining the Birmingham and District League in 1947/48. In 1962 the league changed its name to the West Midlands League, the league where Lye Town still play in the Premier Division.

Lye's best form in the league was in the period between 1976-1981 when they were runners-up in four out of the five seasons. In 1997/98 they won the championship for the first and only time, however they were refused promotion on the basis of not meeting the ground regulations, Stourport Swifts were promoted in their place.
Lye Town are managed by Geoff Moss who has been the gaffer since 1999. Lye hope to develop players through their youth team and have recently set up a joint venture with Oldswinford Youth FC to help further this important aim for the club.
