Founded in 1901 as J Simpson & co, the football club begn life in the Newark Ironworkers League. No records survive of those early days but it is known that in 1935 the club now known as Worthington Simpson entered the Nottingham Spartan League. After back to back Championships "Simmo's" join the Notts Alliance League in 1949 going on to win the League Championship in 1952/53 season, a feat only repeated one more time in 1965/66.
The Notts Alliance Senior Cup brought the greatest success with the trophy coming back to Newark on five occasions, the first time in 1969/70 against Notts Police after a replay with both matches being played at Notts County's Meadow Lane ground. Other cup triumphs came in 1971/72, 1980/81, 1988/89 and 1998/99.
In the 1994/95 season the club was relegated and came close to folding, but a new committee and management quickly turned the fortunes around with a new band of exciting young players and promotion back to the top flight soon followed. Keeper Garry Attwood became the first Newark player for 20 years to represent the County at Under 18 level and the following season Flowserve were proud to see 3 of their players representing the County.
Two name changes followed in the late 1990s as the company the club takes its name from changed hands, firstly to IDP and currently Flowserve. Their ground "Lowfields" is renowned throughout the County for its excellent playing surface and 2004 saw the clubs groundsman rewarded for his efforts when he won the Notts FA Groundsman of the year award.
After 103 years "Simmo's" as the club is still known by the locals took it's first step onto the FA Pyramid by joining the Central Midlands League Premier Division.
