Kettering chairman in the dock! (February 22, 2008)

Imraan Ladak, chairman of Conference North leaders Kettering Town, has been charged with bringing the game into disrepute by the Football Conference.

The Poppies chief confirmed the charges have been brought against him following comments he made about the distribution of television sponsorship money as well as the way the departure of defender Nathan Koo-Boothe from the club was handled.

Back in September, Ladak threw his support behind Tamworth chairman Bob Andrews who had called for a vote of no confidence in the
Conference Board after it was revealed Premier clubs would be receiving a minimum of £85,000 in sponsorship funds compared with just £15,000 for North and South sides.

The Poppies chairman was outspoken about the fact that the board is made up predominantly of Premier clubs who are deciding how much money is dished out.

Then, in November, Ladak said he was considering legal action against the Conference Board following the outcome of disciplinary action against Koo-Boothe.

The defender was sacked during last season for taking what the club called "two unauthorised holidays" after breaking his leg.

Koo-Boothe won an appeal hearing chaired by now former Conference chief executive John Moules.

But the club were then told they had appealed against that decision after the deadline of seven days – even though they claimed the Conference had given them a fortnight to respond.
