New Man for Nuneaton Borough (October 29, 2007)

Despite being linked with Southern League Premier Division club Corby Town, former Kettering Town skipper Craig McIlwain has signed for Conference North side Nuneaton Borough.

McIlwain has recently returned to this country following a spell in Australia with Richmond Eagles and Boro received international clearance in time for him to make his debut as a late substitute in the FA Cup defeat at Chasetown on Saturday.

Centre back McIlwain was originally with Rothwell Town, rising up through the ranks to become a first-team regular during the 2000/01 season.

He began his career as a striker, but was successfully converted to a centre back.

He left Rothwell in November 2003 to join Kettering Town, and he was expected to re-unite with former Poppies boss Kevin Wilson at Corby upon his return to the UK.
