Town's Sponsors leave Daventry (November 03, 2007)
United Counties League club Daventry Town`s players and supporters have been reassured that their long-term future is still looking good, despite the announcement of the sale of the club's main sponsors, Daventry based mobile phone company Go Mobile.

Go Mobile had put thousands of pounds into the football club and brought about the revival of the town side which was on the brink of folding in 2005 after a fire destroyed their clubhouse.

The club were involved in difficult negotiations with the owners of their ground at the time, Daventry District Council, over rent arrears until they were offered financial help from the local mobile phone company.

As a result their ground, Elderstubbs, was given a new name becoming Communications Park and plans were unveiled for an amazing £400,000 clubhouse.

Staff at the Go Mobile head offices first heard about the sale of the company to JAG Communications on Monday morning.

However manging director of Go Mobile, Iain Humphrey has assured the club that any gap in sponsordhip left by Go Mobile will be filled by his other business concern Shebang Distribution.  Iain Humphrey is said to be even more determined to put Daventry Town on the football map and the sale of Go Mobile will give Humphreys more time to spend on helping the club to success.
