Ollerton has a long history of local football going back to the late 1800's. It's best period was probably immediately pre World War 2 when Ollerton Colliery won the Notts Senior Cup in 1937/38 and it's reserve team won the Intermediate Cup in 1936/37.
Ollerton Colliery ceased to function in the 1980's and was reformed in 1988 as Ollerton Bevercotes Miners Welfare FC and entered the Mansfield bitter League. The club entered the Notts football Alliance in 1991 and were Division 2 Champions in season 1992/93. Following the closure of Ollerton Colliery in 1994, a decision was taken to rename the team Ollerton Town, but it remains a section of Ollerton Bevercotes Miners Welfare. It represnts the whole community of Ollerton however, just as its predecessors Ollerton Colliery did.
The dugouts at 'The Lane' are cut back into the standing area around the ground.
I n season 1995/96 Ollerton Town won the Notts Alliance First Division and in 1999/2000 were runners up in the Senior Division. 2000/01 saw Ollerton enter the Central Midlands League and the National Pyramid of Football. 2002/03 was the best performance in the CMFL since they entered, finishing in 6th place and a long lean spell without a win from 9th November to 25th January undoubtedly cost the club its promotion.
Ollerton Town's ground at 'The Lane' has a large stand behind the near goal, floodlights and the old cricket pavilion is used as the changing rooms and social club on match days. It’s a neat ground with huge potential for the future should the club wish to progress up the pyramid.
