A brief History of Tividale Football Club
Tividale Football Club were formed in 1953 and they played their first football in the local leagues. In the early 1960s they joined the Warwickshire & West Midlands Alliance and had four very successful seasons. In 1966 they joined the newly formed West Midlands (Regional) League, Division One and seven years later they won the Division One League and League Cup double gaining promotion into the Premier Division in 1973.
Tividale moved to their current home, The Beeches, in 1974. The early years in the West Midlands League - Premier Division were amongst the most successful in the club’s history. In the 1975/76 campaign the club enjoyed a fantastic F.A. Cup run reaching the 4th qualifying round, only to lose 3–2 at A.P. Leamington. In 1977 they won the Premier Division League Cup beating Alvechurch 1–0.
The 1980s were difficult for Tividale, although they finishing runners-up in the Walsall Senior Cup in 1984 and finishing 6th in the West Midlands League Premier Division in 1985, a run of poor seasons followed. In 1992 Tividale, now back in Division One of the West Midlands League finished in third place. This was also the season Tividale were to install floodlights at The Beeches.
In 1993 Tividale finished Division One runners up and gained promotion back to the Premier Division, this however was also the year that the Midland Alliance was formed, and so in reality they found themselves back where they started!
Tividale have enjoyed a few successful seasons in recent years and in the 2001/02 season they finished runner’s up in both the West Midland League Premier Division and the Walsall Senior Cup.
The 2002/03 season saw Tividale again reaching the Walsall Senior Cup Final, this time beating Rocester 1–0 after extra time. Off the pitch Tividale have built a new changing room block and boardroom and the social club has been completely refurbished. Tividale have now further developed their ground to Midland Alliance standard with a 300-seater stand.
Special thanks to Chris Charles for the photographs of Tividale's ground and to Leon Murray for infomation about the club.
